Recover from a corrupted registry that prevents XP from
starting
Registry corruption can keep you from booting into XP. What do
you do about it? If you have a non-OEM installation of XP, you
can use the Recovery Console to back up your current registry
and then create a new registry with the files from the repair
folder. It's something of a "last resort" solution, but it can
be a godsend when all else has failed. For detailed
