When I press Ctrl/Alt/Delete, What are all those running
programs for, such as Ptsnoop.exe?
One version of Ptsnoop.exe was a ‘backdoor Trojan’ program
that is malicious. Use a good anti-virus to find out. Another
version of Ptsnoop.exe was used by older Modems, or possibly
your existing modem and may be required. Again, run a complete
virus scan with an up-to-date virus detection program as they
all have the ability to remove the bead one. Another way to
view running programs is to use ‘MSConfig’ utility (Start/Run/Msconfig)
in Windows and click on the ‘Startup’ tab to view the list of
auto-loading programs. Most of us have no idea what they are
for, so here are to links to help you find out.
www.answersthatwork.com (click on the ‘Task List’ button)
and
www.pacs-portal.co.uk (click on the ‘Startup Tips’ button).
DO NOT remove or disable any programs unless you are sure you
know what you are doing.
Here is very good information for each startup program.
Currently 4536 programs information
are stored in the database.
